The Protected (Los Protegidos) is the story of a "pretend" family with "special" children.
Jimena's daughter, Blanca, is kidnapped because she has the power to predict the future. Jimena meets Mario, whose son Carlitos has the power to move things with his mind. They also meet Culebra, who can turn invisible, Sandra who can give electric shocks to people and Lucia who can read people's mind.
Some bad people want to kidnap all the children who have powers, so Jimena, Mario, Culebra, Sandra, Carlitos and Lucia have to run away and hide.
They go to live in a house in a small village. They barely know each other but from now on they have to live as a family. They have to pretend they are a real family, without arising any suspicions. They will find jobs and go to school, they will make friends and talk to the neighbours, always pretending that they are a normal family. But with 4 "special children" in the house, it is difficult to keep a low profile. Jimena keeps trying to find her daughter Blanca, and the baddies will keep trying to find them to take the "special children" away. Jimena and Mario will have a strong bond and so will Sandra and Culebra.
